The first black boers I had seen were of terrible quality.  After studying the blacks for a few months I realized they had been line bred for several generations with the intent of retaining the color.  Color, recessive genes, and poor quality was just about all that was retained in the blacks.  I have looked hard for a year to find does good enough to start building a "Quality Black Boer".  I'm still looking for a BUCK!  I've tried two to date with very little quality.   Line breeding needs to outcross after you purify the line itself.  Traditionals and even reds have many quality lines to outcross to - the black boer goat have none.  Quality comes first in my goats.  I have brought traditional and reds in to improve my line of black boer goats in order to meet the standards and expectations of quality.  Check back often for the next set of flush babies!
